The prefinished stair treads have a durable aluminum oxide finish. A coat of stain if desired wiped on and off and allowed to dry can be covered with a coat of polyurethane water based. The test to determine red and white oak is the length of the rays or the small bands that make up the grain red oak has bands that are short usually around 1 4. Wipe spills up straight away.
Dip the paintbrush into the stain and tap the brush on the lip of the can of stain to remove any excess stain from the brush. Followed by 1 coat of your chosen colour of osmo natural oil woodstain. You can also use wood stain varnish or paint for your finish although if you are intending to paint the stairs you may as well choose a cheaper softwood for any components that are going to be covered up. Paint the treads in the direction of the grain. As for maintenance you can clean oiled stairparts with a damp cloth and add mild detergent if necessary to remove stubborn stains and grease often a problem with the stairs handrail. Each tread is 11 1 2 wide 1 thick and has a bullnosed front edge.

Wipe off the excess stain with a clean lint free rag. Scraped and sanded oak stair treads are comparatively simple to finish.
Followed by 1 coat of clear osmo uv protection oil 420 extra.
